DU QINFEN

Dr. Du Qinfen is an Associate Professor in the Ceramic Art and Design Department at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and holds a Ph.D. in Art Studies. She is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) under UNESCO, an expert reviewer for the Academic Degree Center of the Chinese Ministry of Education, and Vice Chair of the Guangdong Female Artists Association, where she also serves as the Director of the Ceramic Arts Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the China Artists Association, the China Arts and Crafts Association, the Guangdong Artists Association, and the Guangzhou Artists Association. In 2019, she was awarded the National Art Fund for Young Artists.

Her works have been selected for major international ceramic exhibitions, including the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale in South Korea, and have been showcased in renowned museums and art institutions such as Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art (Japan), Yingge Ceramics Museum (Taiwan), as well as museums in Turkey and Macau.

Du Qinfen’s ceramic works are not just museum exhibits—they represent a fusion of China’s ancient history and contemporary art. Inspired by traditional Chinese bronzes, she shapes each piece by hand, refining the form through careful experimentation. Different clays bring different strengths, blending at her fingertips to create new shapes.

The sharp angles, dynamic lines, and layered structures reflect the traces of history. Fired at high temperatures, each piece withstands intense heat and emerges with its own unique brilliance, carrying the dialogue between art and history.
