As a child I held a flower over the current, and did not think of distance.

A swan rests. A fish passes. The lighthouse stays lit.

Water is quiet, and still moving.

The river carries boats and morning light. Magnolia opens in spring. Old streets remain beside new towers. A family watches a kite rise.

This is not a view of the city. It is a memory I still wear.

Fire is the warmth of a place that formed me, and stays after I have gone.

L is my family name. The scent of the epiphyllum sits against the light of an old Chinese window. The pearls are what time has gathered. Birds under the moon are dreams kept in stillness.
